Volume One, The Translator’s Afterword
Hi, everyone. And so, the first volume has been translated.
Well, I should have started translating from the web version—it seems like the web novel is complete, unlike the light novel version, T_T. That said, now that I’ve started translating the light novel, I don’t want to stop halfway through.
Now, as for certain decisions… First, the titles of the chapters. I don’t like having articles in titles, so I tried to avoid them, but some titles without articles just looked silly… And now some titles have articles and others don’t, which also looks silly, Т_Т. Second, the translation of the word “Saint” (聖女). I don’t really like the “Saintess” version, but in this particular book, I should have used that form specifically, so it would be clear right away that “Saint (聖人) Ferfaitos” is a man. And third, the translation of food. I really should have fully translated some of the dish names instead of just using transliteration. Oh, and also “my/our grandmother” and “my/our grandfather”—instead of using pronouns, I should have just capitalized the words. Be that as it may, what’s done is done.
Well, let’s move on to the statistics.
